Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to Steamboat Springs?
In the winter, Steamboat Springs is one of the most accessible ski resorts in Colorado and North America. Many major carriers offer non-stop jet service from mid-December to early April, allowing guests from numerous cities (including DEN, ATL, ORD, BOS, DFW, FLL, IAH, MSP, EWR, LAX, SFO, SAN, SEA, IAD) to fly directly to Yampa Valley/Hayden (HDN) quickly and without a plane change. If you don’t have access to a direct flight, consider connecting through one of these cities to HDN.
If flying to Denver International Airport (DIA), consider a short connecting flight to HDN (about 30 minutes; the airport is roughly 23 miles from downtown Steamboat). Driving from Denver is approximately 180 miles (about four hours in a private vehicle, longer with shared shuttles). Ground transfers can be arranged if you’re not planning to rent a vehicle.
When is the best time of year to enjoy Steamboat Springs?
Steamboat Springs is a true year-round destination and community. The ski season typically runs from Thanksgiving to the second weekend of April.
